La Chimera 2023
I’m most taken by how La chimera portrays the Italy of the 1980’s in a somewhat post-apocalyptic sense - a ram-shambled society of bohemians and vagabonds within a decaying infrastructure that rests above the ruins of a once great empire.
In such a setting, teeming with the presence of history all throughout and inescapable, the wake of losing one’s great love takes the shape of meandering survival. Arthur seemingly persists without direction, making his uncanny ability to direct his companions to untapped tombs with a supernatural intuition all the more enigmatic.
