Someone told me "You remind me of a girl from a movie called Amelie" (I think my heart turned into popcorn❤️🔥) ... so I'm rewatching this movie from the year I was born. If escapism has a technicolour kaleidoscopic frosting to it, Amelie would be the perfect sweet treat to watch between serious movies in a movie run.

Fun and playful movie, sprinkled with jokes related to social issues. This has got to be my favourite family movie ever! The first part of the movie (the dinner table scene esp) was difficult for me to watch because Richard and his pesky mannerisms remind me of my own father. The way Richard treated the Proust scholar uncle Frank was exactly how my engineer father would treat people with liberal arts degrees. Overall, a beautiful movie. 5/5 recommend! Not a tearjerker but I cried ;)

Finishing this movie felt like finishing the most scrumptious triple-layered peach and chocolate cake I've ever had in my life.
