  It’s kind of insane for a movie to run for three and a half hours and not even attempt to engage in a conversation about its architectural namesake. Or any type of architecture, actually. Or any substantial message about politics, oppression, addiction, or anything at all. Half baked themes of the power imbalance between artist and patron, the illusion of the American dream, and the cruelty of antisemitism and xenophobia are clumsily addressed by slapping a flimsy Zionist bandaid on the whole thing and calling it a beautiful bow.
