  More short films should be like good thought experiments with fantastic retro 70s vibes. Very easily could become a 4 upon rewatching.

  40 minutes in I said "oh my god...this is gonna hurt so much, isn't it?"

  And it did. In the most visually stunning, referential, brilliantly distracted, lovely way.

  And I laughed through almost every minute of the pain.

  (Half a point off for occasional but likely in this format unavailable tedium)

  Nosferatu 2024

  There is much I could say about the content or substance of Nosferatu, such as:

  - how Willem Dafoe's performance and Eggers's script (and frankly the film as a whole) balances the tightrope between deadly serious and camp so well that it would make Sasha Velour weep (there are parts of this film that I actually cackled at, in a great way)

  - how Lily-Rose Depp's performance is so beautifully understated that it turns what could've been a scream queen…
