Mutual Appreciation 2005
At first, the awkward and rambling conversations felt too contrived and too mid-2000s indie hipster core for my taste. However, much like Andrew Bujalski’s prior film Funny HaHa, the charm of the mumble-core formula was eventually more than enough to win me over.
Speaking of Funny HaHa, it’s been a while but I thought that one did a better job at portraying uncomfortableness and feeling relatable, whereas this one was a lot tighter, had better pacing, and bad a much easier to follow and much more engaging story. I probably like this one a bit more but it’s close.

Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage 2021
10/10 subject matter that I knew nothing about beforehand, so I am glad someone made a movie about it. That being said, way too much runtime is spent letting random people editorialize about their personal takes on the 1990s. About 45 minutes is spent finding different people saying “Woodstock 99 was the embodiment of the politics of the 1990s” and then mentioning bands like Nirvana that weren’t even around.
