wow! excellent! animation at its prime! the rain(bow) drops (fish!)?!?!
how has makoto shinkai not had a movie nominated for an oscar yet? every single piece of work i’ve seen of his (3) has been visually stunning and conceptually so *full*. rightfully in the top 20 highest-grossing japanese films worldwide, the story transcends any cultural barriers and feels resonant regardless of what part of the world you’re watching in (we all understand weather, right?). in spite (?) of being so…
unnecessarily sad (even though i know exactly what’s going to happen EVERY TIME) - i too must have a weak heart!
make more movies like this!! overall i feel like my heart has been *ripped* out of my chest. only it’s still there and it HURTS! nothing could’ve prepared me for how deeply i FELT while watching. love and longing were depicted so beautifully in so many different forms. i don’t think i’ll ever get over the buildup to the last scene.
grabbing tissues beforehand would’ve been a smart move. how did i even make it through without them? trick question - i didn’t (i’m still crying as i write this).
