First time seeing the original Japanese language version of this masterpiece.
Watched in IMAX at the Danbury, CT AMC. Which, for real fuck that movie theater. It’s the most disgusting theater I’ve maybe ever gone to. Every time I go there I say it’s gonna be the last time I go, but the showing in Plainfield was just too early for us to get to after getting out of work.

This shit is my jam. Slow burn. Vibes. Nonsensical creep factor. Unexplained weirdness. Incredible soundtrack.
I haven’t watched this since way before Mandy came out. Considering just how often I watch Mandy, it’s so interesting to revisit this and see how its DNA is all over Mandy.

Excellent Danny Elfman soundtrack, but there’s honestly never a reason to put that man’s name in the credits. Like, yeah, I know it’s Danny Elfman; I have ears.

Damn, gorgeously shot and substantially weird. I really loved this. I’m one year younger than the main character was supposed to be, and I feel like this did a really great job of encapsulating what it was like to be a teen at that point in time.
Also, thanks for bringing us to the Road House in the middle there for a few performances. King Woman especially was 😚👌
