My expectations were hardly very high for this entry. The marketing, from the trailers to the carefully constructed interviews promising a 'return' to the good old days of Alien and Aliens (you know, just like they literally always do with these films), threatened / promised a carefully-calibrated experience that would be more entertaining than other recent entries but less interesting and cerebral.

Eh? Have I watched the same film as everyone else? Why does everything feel so bland? Why can't that naff score pipe down for five damn seconds? Why doesn't the Predator seem to know how its own equipment works? Were they always this thick? The bit with the French trappers with the net was fun, so a bit better than the last one, I suppose.
