Honestly… not my favorite. The butterfly metaphor was a little too on the nose for me. I saw it coming a mile away. The story is certainly interesting, but I wasn’t obsessed with the tone of the film or some of its punchlines. Visually, I really enjoyed this film. Some frames were so beautifully captured. The performances were also well done. Natalie, Julianne, and Charles deserve tons of praise.
I give them flowers, but it’s not a rewatch for me

This movie hit really close to home. After my parents’ divorce, my father attempted suicide and lived in depression for my entire adolescence. I remember watching him break down routinely. As his only biological child, I felt responsible for him. I would cheer him up, distract him, motivate him, support him, etc. I was only 12. The tone this movie set, the story telling, directorial choices, etc. all really brought me back to that time. It moved me in a way no film has before. And that’s why I feel it’s truly remarkable.
