The French Dispatch 2021
This was like eating a table full of decadent cheesecakes and not feeling so great in the process. I have a suspicion that under all the richness and artistry of those cakes, the ingredients remain pretty basic.
Positives: some clever repartee, even if too fun or too clever. Always a visual delight to see the composition, stellar sets, and practical effects. (Maybe a viewing on mute would be more enjoyable?)
Negatives: Doesn't ever really land or connect. Too many 'wes men' in the making of this, methinks.
