  are you familiar with Nick tahous?
  the landmark eatery celebrated for its "Garbage Plate," a mash-up of meats, fries, salads & sauces?

  this was that.

  maximalism.

  you can take what you want from this movie.
  it has everything and everything is mixed up and lost and messy.  

  if you’re in the mood for that it’s fantastic.

  this is self portrait and seemingly every thought coppola has ever had or subject he’s been interested in on full display.

  people are going to love this movie in 10 years.

  hot take, didn’t love.
  kind of slow.
  wanted more scares.

  well made and perfect performances.
  still very interested in the eggers project.

  maybe it was bogged down by reverence to the source material?

  to be fair my theater experience was lacking; it was a dark film and people regularly got up to leave the theater, often leaving the door a jar and letting light in.
