I watched Mickey 17, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. The story is unique and has a lot of potential, but it doesn’t hold up for long.

The first part of the movie sets the tone well, but then it falls into a predictable good vs. bad narrative, with themes of colonization that lean into the usual white supremacist tropes. Just watched Hackers for the first time at 33, and I can’t believe I didn’t know about this gem sooner! It’s pure '90s nostalgia overload—in the best way possible. The cyberpunk aesthetic and the insane attention to detail in every reference make it such a time capsule of that period.

This should be shown in every high school. As Belgian, I feel like I haven’t been told the truth until I realised it myself when already on the university benches.

I was told: so much a film for you. I can't disagree. The poetry of the facts, the beauty of the landscapes and Saoirse's accuracy won me over and I imagine that many millennials will relate to this story in one way or another. Living between the excesses and the realisations, our demons lie in wait.
