The tone was difficult to grab onto in this film, which works at some points but not at others. Carey Mulligan’s performance is interesting and has been almost universally praised but didn’t hit the mark for me.
I enjoyed the ending and the risks the film took. It leaves you with a great deal to think about and is successful in that regard.
The choreographed pieces in this are simply magnificent. They range from couple pieces of all emotional colour, to hard hitting and moving group pieces. I was drawn in and could not look away. Brilliant. If you have even a passing interest in dance, you will love it. For such a young man, this is accomplished and moving. Sean has a stellar future.
