The Conversation 1974
Subtle in a very powerful way in what I personally consider a psychological horror. Coppola creates an increasingly unreliable protagonist who leaves you feeling uneasy, confused, and contemplative. A man absolutely perfect in his job recording the lives of others descents into utter madness with his latest assignment. Understated because the audio equipment is outdated but still as relevant as ever in feeling monitored. The ending is perfect and haunting.
