Ironic is the way Mank envelopes you in a period of cinematic prosperity and bursting fumes of originality: the start of golden cinema, at the present time when all exists but said originality and unfortunately, anything golden.
Fincher's astute direction wears a filter of periodic eloquence, outdated nostalgia, black and white flashbacks to an outdated style of cinema now known as stylistic.
From the homages to replicate the periodic piece to the legendary source material it beholds, Mank much like the praised Citizen Kane it's about, is highly complex, unfathomably glorifying, and presumably will grow more beautiful and pretentious by the minute.
