    Hitch

When I think of fantastic Will Smith movies, Hitch is definitely up there alongside The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds, Ali, I, Robot, King Richard, and Wild Wild West. I don’t mean to sound redundant, but they really don’t make rom-coms like this anymore. Nowadays, every movie has to be a $200 million blockbuster, and Hollywood seems unwilling to embrace a solid, moderately successful film.

As I watch the classic 1937 rendition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I’m reminded of what Disney used to be—a simple story, simple songs, and simple animation, yet it captivated so many. Meanwhile, the 2025 version with Rachel Zegler is bombing at the box office, with virtually no press tour and a film that’s, frankly, terrible. But watching the original for free on Disney+, I realize that a great story doesn’t need a remake to stay relevant. A good story stands on its own.

Sure, the story is corny—or should I say a-corny—but sometimes you just want to throw on a comfort movie.

There’s something about the way Chicken Little says, “What are we talking about?” . At its core, this is a story about parents…

    The Electric State

    ★★★½

As I watch yet another film by Anthony and Joe Russo, I can’t help but reflect on their outstanding work with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, as well as their incredible episodes of Community. It’s clear that they are talented directors, but a truly great director needs a solid script to elevate their craft. In this particular movie, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie, and a new, unknown actor, I can’t shake the feeling that while the premise…
