Loved it, just what I needed for a movie night out in dark cold November. Very nice movie about community and growing up and facing the unknown together as a team. Lovely animations, they doubled down on the effects and colors that made the first one special. I don't think the songs are as catchy as some other Lin Manuel Miranda soundtracks but it had some fun hype songs and reflective songs. It had great comedy beats and physical comedy.…

It was alright but I wanted "Silence of the Lambs"/"Bone Collector" as in a 90's style psychological thriller. But the film also wanted to put in some creepy doll and 1970's-1980's Rosemary's Baby religious supernatural horror, with a touch of "Killing of a Sacred Deer". Which is all well and good but not what advertising led me to believe. It had too much it was trying to do. I hate scary dolls. Not signing up for that.

It was very good and upsetting on purpose but I felt like it had too many storylines going on at once and was strongest when it was about Jasmine. And adding the idea someone was faking being Black at the last minute and then dismissing it as an unreliable witness was a bit jarring, as well as the roommates story. But I loved the setting and the ideas it was dealing with and exploring racism as a ghost story. The characters were great. I didn't think we got resolution on what was ghosts and what wasn't.
