    The horror-movie level tension in that parking lot scene is so true to life. A brutal serial killer finds time between murders to go on a dating show. Oh and this is all real by the way. Anna Kendrick keeps it tight and really does a serial killer movie right, without glamorizing the killer.

    Worldwide geopolitical relationships and schemes explode in the 1960s, centralized in the Congo. Now imagine all of this layered into and around jazz performances. Incredibly well put together from archival footage, Nikita Khrushev’s audio memoirs, Congolese novels and more. 

    I have to say this one grew on me. It was a lot of information to process in the beginning but as the documentary progressed and my grasp of what was happened strengthened, I thought it just got better and better.
