    co-dependency the film?
mostly just made me wonder about the original theatre performance which seems like it would've been really interesting... great acting here but kind of felt like a bunch of scenes together with people i didn't love to spend time with

was delighted when tara lynne o'neill showed up because i hadn't read the casting to know she was going to be in this actually

    The Ides of March

    ★★★

will never be able to actually watch on the Ides since it's my birthday, so today's the next best thing

admittedly only watched while working but more interesting than i thought it'd be and a good dose of the political skepticism... felt slow moving tho

This really peaked with food scenes and cultural sharing in the kitchen, which had some tender, lovely moments. But ultimately overstuffed and underwhelming.

Not every shot in a film needs to be "necessary" but a lot could be cut to benefit the film. Generously, it didn't benefit from John and Yoko headlines, lingering on physical trauma of bombing victims, or showing an emotionally wrought man-led gyno exam with parent present.

Sorry to be a "no fun at parties" girlie but…

    + co-written-edited-directed* by a lesbian!

*Something I found particularly funny about ads for this film was highlighting Ethan's directing work on Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and Raising Arizona. Sure you can see the stylistic relation and they say credits don't bother them, but it certainly feels like a commentary…
