when this works, it works really well. I loved the middle section of this film, honestly a whole film of that stuff would have been way better.

The Raid 2 2014
Revisiting this tired really shows how long this movie feels. I'll have to significantly adjust my perspective on this one unfortunately.
I think one of my main issues with trying to review this film is that it is a nasty combination of actually groundbreaking action and a really, really mediocre crime drama. It took me a few rewatches to separate the two in my head, especially considering that the whole package is beautifully shot.

I find 'In the Mood for Love' fascinating in how it can do so much while remaining so restrained. The film heavily meditates on the 'what ifs' of relationships and romance, teasing us with possibility while never losing composure.
