  Really succeeds in what it’s trying to do, I just happened to find like 30% of what it’s trying to do… kind of reprehensible? Initially Frances makes some great points about essentially holding cops accountable like a RICO case, but then spend endless time rehabilitating the image of ever single cop, including one who literally looks down  the camera and says “Hey, we’re not all bad!”

  Timeless movie. The fact that it’s set in the 1600s and is just as relevant in the 1960s as today makes it feel kind of eternal in a sort of depressing way.

  I love how little of this character is given to us through anything Carol actually says. She seems to know as little about her own interiority as we do, but we get such a clear portrait of her by the way Moore plays her emotions, and her attempt to suppress them, and apologize for having them at all. The desperation to be seen but also not to be noticed too much, or make waves. The way it all comes together…
