This is maybe my favorite movie I’ve been made to watch by students. It’s a time travel story which immediately makes it a winner. The aesthetics are fun with the crisp character colors and designs. Even the origin story of “why does dog have kid” is loaded with pathos and is compelling, the love between the titular characters is strong enough to carry the emotional weight of the film. As an American one of the most interesting things about this movie is that it is literally a TV movie. It was produced by France Television which is a state run television network. The basic plot follows a group of teen prostitutes which would never happen probably even on the riskiest of networks. Just fascinating. But you probably aren’t reading this for a general culture shock but rather some English thoughts on the movie.
