I fired this one up because there's a character in it named Haruto Soma, the exact same as my man Kamen Rider Wizard. In English, anyway, the way you write the names is apparently completely different in Japanese. Next time I go tearing off watching a show because a character shares a name with a Kamen Rider, stop me from being a total 'tismo, won't you?

"Transient" is probably the best word I've got for this one. It fascinates me how this film felt so long, despite not possessing the gut-wrenching horrors of Tetsuo the Iron Man or the sheer length of Drive My Car.
Knowing nothing about Ishii, brief research reveals he was revolutionary for the cyberpunk genre. This movie seems so drastically different from the sound of these movies. I bet it was refreshing for him.

That sure was an episode of Kamen Rider (1971) extended slightly and given a slightly higher budget. It would have been really funny if all the revived monsters actually fucked off after that long roll call scene.
This is the type of fun but flawed movie that David Hayter would thank you for bringing to him at a con after he's been signing Metal Gear Solid merch for three hours.
