It’s really fun, on a technical level it’s great. Quite frankly, my issue arises in the face that it’s a musical. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not for me. The music was fantastic, and the vocals were absolutely insane. But it just didn’t work for me at times.
Ariana Grande was super good and I’m glad she’s back to acting, Erivo was also great. The rest of the cast wasn’t anything special. The ending and certain plot points were kinda silly, but it’s okay.
Absolutely fantastic for what it is, but nothing brings it over the top for me. The animation is obviously beautiful, and the voice acting is great. The messages about family, forgiveness, and belonging are done very well, and it’s very hard not to find some emotional response to some part of it.
It’s a pretty good movie, though nothing really stands out. The 3 leads were good, and they worked well together. I think it has a little bit to say about control and corruption, but it’s nothing crazy.
Another film with Denzel in a military role. As much as I love him as an actor, his lack of role variety is very annoying.
