I forget what a good villain Le Chiffre is for Bond's 'first' assignment as a 00 agent. Like, the stakes are much more low-key - Le Chiffre isn't some big mastermind, he's a financier who got in too deep. Bond isn't even the one who kills him, he just waits for Le Chiffre's enemies to arrive. But his vulnerability, frightened and backed into a corner, makes him more scary.

Eggers firing on all cylinders.
The changes to the Dracula story are good - I loved deifying Count Orlok as more of a lich than a mere vampire, and adding personal sacrifice and more of a starring than damsel-in-distress role for Ellen. The awesome build up to the first appearance of Count Orlok is sort of a let down, though, and I wasn't really happy with his character design.
