I went in with no expectations, thinking the story might be more of a psychological thriller, but it took a completely unexpected turn and it was not caricatured at all. While the character development felt a bit lacking, it’s understandable given the mix of themes - survivor, occultism, trauma, serial killer. It wouldn’t have been possible to explore everything and that’s okay, it doesn’t impact the film overall. Nicolas cage was simply amazing.
