Wish the twist wasn’t in the marketing — it took the air out of the reveal. But that said, I enjoyed the ending, and it felt earned. Feels a bit like a good Black Mirror episode, or a lighter take on the robot/AI themes explored in Blade Runner and Ex Machina.

The Monkey 2025
Honestly I didn’t expect to be wheezing laughing from the insane kills in this film. Seeing this with a packed audience was so much fun, and it’s definitely one I want to revisit. Fully entertained the entire time, and sorry to everyone around me for giggling, but it was a genuinely great time. Yes, I’m fucked up.

The Substance 2024
Omg omg omg… a feminist love letter to horror? A deep dive into the toxicity and sickness behind being obsessed with celebrity and beauty and youth? Homages to Kubrick, Lynch, Cronenberg, Carpenter, and Frankenstein? YES across all fronts! I’m UNWORTHY of this masterpiece.

Mad Max: Fury Road 2015
This movie blows my mind. It’s been nearly a decade since I rewatched it, but it was the perfect follow-up after Furiosa (they fit together nearly seamlessly). I know there was ~drama~ on set, but damn, the end result of a film is unreal level amazing. Furiosa’s cry of defeat on the dunes is one of the most gorgeous shots I’ve ever seen. The heartstrings pulled when our favorite war boy sacrifices himself 💔. The badass women kicking butt gives me life. The speed/frenetic frame rate keeps me on my toes. The zombie esque guitar player is kinda everything. This movie is fucking great.
