Been scratching my head as to why so many people hated this film. All I will say is the bad reviews of the film seemed either very biased or unwarranted.
As someone who doesn’t know the source material or author, the direction of the film was definitely intriguing and captured my attention. While this had a heavy theme but probably needed more in-dept fleshing out or healing from the main character, it did enough to not leave things unresolved. Lively gave a step by and convincing performance. If you’re someone who has experienced abuse, it is confronting so beware.

All Quiet on the Western Front 2022
Up there with 1917 & Hacksaw Ridge as ones of the best war films of the last couple decades. The immaculate cinematography and photography is worth the price of admission. Add the eerie uneasy soundtrack that contrasts the odd excitement and potential heroism of the young German soldiers, the uneven scale of power and its impact of human lives as well as the gruelling, sad and horrific realities of war. This one is not to be missed.
