Under the Silver Lake 2018
I enjoy movies about a person randomly stumbling upon a conspiracy or concept that is incomprehensible to us and the character.
Biggest positive: Appeals to the childlike mystery and “treasure map”-esque adventure.
Biggest negative: Panders to contemporary conspiracy theories that make people more neurotic about them instead of enjoying things for what they are. Has a time and place to think about ideas like that, but mindlessly believing everything is a conspiracy or is working to conspire against you is a steep slope.
Not to say what this movie describes in conspiracies are false or don’t exist. the ideas brought up most definitely do.

Nosferatu 2024
Nosferatu cements Eggers as the greatest director currently alive and making films. A breathtaking experience that makes the concept of vampires somehow terrifying again.
The acting is otherworldly and puts any other movie in the last year to shame. Beautiful gothic aesthetic that feels lived in and proper. Everything about this movie I believe to be perfect. I don’t have much else to say besides this is the best movie of 2024.
