    Mickey 17

Mickey 17 is fun and silly, but it has a larger-than-life feeling to it. The movie is self aware in how it doesn't care about being "perfect" like Parasite, while never really giving up on having a deeper sense of meaning. These two ideas are a little contrasting, and the reason they work enough is Robert Pattinson's unforgettable acting as Mickey.

This is a must watch for everyone. Some will be disappointed, but as they say, art is not only supposed to please. Mickey 17 is art.

Spectacular until the intermission, weaker from then on out. I feel confident in saying the first 2 hours were some of the best filmmaking I've seen these last couple years; the opening sequence made me have a full-body goosebumps extravaganza.

Be it on purpose or not, the second half is messy. The introduction of Felicity Jones stole too much screen time from what was working before the intermission. She has amazing scenes, but the writers couldn't balance her presence with…

Another background rewatch, but I saw the whole final act properly because I couldn't help myself. This franchise is a gift to action cinema (and cinema overall).

    The Babadook

Finally rewatched this one. It's good, but I don't think the "horror is actually trauma" thing aged that well. At least not how it's showcased in The Babadook. I prefer Hereditary's unambiguous ending than what we got in this movie. I'm fine with 100% uncertainty in film, but there needs to be a lot of artistic depth to make up for it, and I don't think The Babadook has that. The acting is awesome, but overall I found it just good, not a masterpiece or anything like that.

Gareth Edwards fan here doing my job and leaving a comment to build hype.

Monsters? Genius work with little resources.
G14? Masterpiece that flew over people's heads. (Starting to change)
Rogue One? Instant hit and top tier Star Wars.

Look at what this guy did so far. Potential much? Gareth is an underrated filmmaker.

I know it's not Eggers because it's missing a "The" before "Medieval". Nice try Petr Jákl.
