    German Expressionism. Original Nosferatu.

A revenge story with a sprinkle social class struggle, a single false prophet and a whole lot of blood. The treatment of the soundtrack was boring and its timing was corny. Though adding Zakir Hussain on the tabla never hurts.
The man is a monster percussionist.

Didnt expect a lesson in Existentialism and was quite pleased by it. I appreciate how the conflict of a talking mongoose being opposed to a cynical, skeptical paranormal detective fuels diverse philosophical moments. What are the results of a deep shake in someone’s beliefs?

In any case, movie opens and maintains its eyes on what we define as real, elaborating in various cartesian explanations. It takes a slow turn towards existentialist subjects, death, memory, happiness and ultimately, being remembered.

    Neat!

Humphrey Bogart as a priest with a glock.  Impersonates a priest to escape a militia he was part of. Cool arc to the story. Love the flagrant atheist tone the movie has. Especially the dichotomy between a miracle and a game of dice. What faith encompasses and the way the church decides to play it at the end.

Cool movie. Decor was nice and score was interesting. Definitely a bit of an abuse in pentatonics to convey this asiatic set. Still some very cool textures and orchestrations.

Also great acting by Lee J. Cobb as Mieh Yang.
