I have a PhD in English literature, but my heart belongs to the movies.

Tomorrow Never Dies 1997
Tomorrow Never Dies is the best Bond film of the Brosnan era.
Jonathan Pryce’s performance as Elliot Carver is great. Besides Anthony Hopkins, nobody can chew scenery like Pryce. Carver is a great megalomaniac whose plot to start WWIII to boost news ratings is ridiculous yet plausible enough.
Michelle Yeoh’s Wai Lin is the most competent Bond Girl the series has ever produced. She’s not just eye candy.
This movie has so many good set pieces, fight scenes, and chases. I watched Goldeneye and Tomorrow back to back, and I was struck by how straightforward and dull Goldeneye is in comparison.
