There was kind of this idea of what constituted a colloquially classic movie when I was growing up. "It has heart, humor, romance, action, the whole nine yards!" It was sort of a way to say it was worth seeing in theaters, because the theatrical experience was special and seeing something on the big screen meant something. But it was also a way of recognizing the minor miracle of juggling and finding harmony in a variety of tones.
