  I did a lot of yelling at the tv. If I was a paranoid control freak like the late Gene Hackman is in this movie, I would quit my private surveillance gig and CERTAINLY not let strangers into my special surveillance devices cage! Personally

  Beat for beat Oscar bait that uses its over 3 hour runtime to routinely answer every potential subtlety or ambiguity it neatly presents in the first act. It is thorough but that’s hardly a compliment, it might be my biggest criticism. I wish the buildings and the Bauhaus but-who we’re shown were lingered on for far longer. Instead so many blatant Spielbergish heart string tugs for the foreigner in America, the post-war Jew, the problem of never belonging, etc. I liked that his “thing” was a bunch of tall doors with hidden hinges that open all at once, props to the designers on that.
