    Opus

    ★★½

Opus is a lot better than its initial reviews out of Sundance would lead you to believe but I still couldn't help but feel a little underwhelmed by the end. Despite it being very similar and having a lot of the same ideas as other recent films, I was actually on board and mostly engaged for a large chunk of the runtime and appreciated the way it tackled celebrity worship. The Electric State

    ★½

I'm not a Russo Brothers hater by any means but The Electric State is easily their weakest film to date and a real dud. The visuals for the most part look great (which I’d certainly hope given the film’s insane $320 million budget), and the action sequences are decent enough in the moment. ★★★½

It's predictable, cliched, and it does run to long containing some unnecessary subplots but "The Intern" is still a really sweet and enjoyable film to watch. Robert De Niro is terrific and Anne Hathaway is really good as well and the two of them do share some really good chemistry. The tone also balances drama, comedy and a little romance pretty nicely as well. It's nothing to special, but it's still a irresistibly charming crowd pleaser.

    ★★½

I really wanted to like Miller’s Girl but it ultimately let me down. Jenna Ortega commands the screen, giving a fearless and daring performance unlike anything she’s ever done before while Martin Freeman is as solid and committed as always. They share strong chemistry and sell the complex relationship that builds between their characters. I really loved the cinematography, setting, and atmosphere this creates, but the script and story ultimately let it down. For how much of an outrage this…
