    ★★★★

Hard Truths is an angry movie. At least initially. Pansy, impeccably portrayed by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, is a firecracker dropping the titular hard truths.

But Mike Leigh is a master and fills the movie with so many funny moments that had the crowd laughing almost nonstop. But in the end, when the laughter dies down, it’s a movie that makes you think about the world in a new way. There is nobody making movies quite like Mike Leigh.

I can’t lie. It was predictable, but fun. Sophie Thatcher is awesome.

I knew today would be one of them days, so this movie felt appropriate . Although Den of Thieves 2 would have been another good option for today.

This was a lot of fun, especially with a packed crowd. People clapped at the end. And I’m not anti-fun, so I did too.

A quiet meditation on life, death and the borders we cross. So quiet, that you sometimes wonder if it’s trying to say anything at all.

A 3 hour movie played at 2x speed. If you can keep up, you’ll have an icking good time. Luckily, the awesome early 2000s soundtrack isn’t sped up.

The director had the idea for Ick 20 years ago (as a Nine Inch Nails music video) but he finished the movie yesterday.

    Also, remember the pandemic?
