“Are you watching closely?”
Exceeded most expectations I had. Stellar from all angles: acting, storyline, costuming, everything. Only gripe I had - and it’s minor - but I did sorta figure it out a little early. No spoilers but I watched closely. Go figure.
As a period piece is this fantastic. World-building and pacing are incredibly on point for such an early work in Nolan’s catalogue. No surprise from the guy who made Memento, though.
0% chance that I fully got it on first watch but damn this rips. Probably even better on rewatch.
Something I absolutely love about this one is that I finally found a movie that does the surreal theme as well as After Hours. The disjointed narrative structure does this film favors and ultimately the final reveal makes it all worth it. Lynch gives the audience bits and pieces of evidence every second of this movie and it’s so sick to figure out on your own. Big fan. Will rewatch.
