    Basically the same as the first one in my opinion. Everything great I said about Diary of a Wimpy Kid rings true here. I love this film so, so much, and much like the first one, it’s integral to my childhood. Some people say this one is better (that’s probably true, this is like a 3.55/5) but like… come on they’re functionally the same - those people are probably just in love with Rodrick.

    There are three gold standards for casting that come to mind when I’m thinking about “perfectly cast films”: Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds, the entire cast that rose to stardom after Dazed and Confused, and this film. Somebody give the casting director a raise and a half, this family FEELS like a real family in a way that is almost impossible to describe.
