Classic WWII film in the “your dad’s favourite films” genre, where the bad guys wear grey, the really bad guys wear black, and they all speak English with dodgy accents.
Kind of slow at the start, but gets going nicely once the Americans reach Remagen.
I don’t think this is up there with the best movies ever made, let alone the best Scorsese or De Niro. Beautiful film though all the same.
I was really torn here. I like CCR, I liked the first half with the documentary/interviews, and I liked their concert. But I feel it didn’t really decide what it was - maybe it should have kept with the interviews interspersed with clips of them performing? Having the concert in full to watch is great, but following the first 40 minutes or so of interviews and concert footage mixed together, it felt kind of weird.
