There’s a scene in Hogfather in which Death teaches a supercomputer to believe in Santa Claus so they can save the universe and then the computer tells him what it wants for Christmas and it may not be in the top ten most bizarre scenes in the miniseries.
Terry Pratchett’s imagination knows no bounds. And ‘Death subs in for Santa when the personification of science hires an assassin to murder him’ is a hell of a sales pitch.
