I was poised to dislike this one based on all the reviews I was hearing but I was genuinely impressed by it. It’s not as good as the original in any way and it’s characters act in maddeningly inconsistent/ridiculous ways, but overall I think its attempt to tackle some more complex emotions like anxiety is commendable and there are some terrific vocal performances bringing them to life. Still, could have been better, and could have been gayer.

Memoir of a Snail 2024
A strange, grimy, human films with a whole lot of heart and a dark sense of humor that allows it and its characters to persevere in the face of tragedies. I was fully onboard with this one and would have been happy to see it win best animated feature. Keep stop motion animation alive and well please.

"That was just about the worst film I've ever seen in my life." - the old dude in the seat next to me at the movies today. It's certainly not for everyone (and I'm so glad I didn't let my 11 year old cousin talk me into taking her) but damn was this for me. I laughed nonstop. It's no landmark cinematic achievement but it doesn't have to be. It's just a joyful, silly, stupid, clever, horny road comedy that I could watch again and again. Highly recommend.
