It’s a shame that this is the probably the closest we will get to a mighty boosh movie.
It’s got a great visual style, blending animation with real characters, rear projection, stage like sets and so on. Reminiscent of little big planet or tearaway. Unfortunately it’s let down by a really bad main character.

The found footage documentary element is totally pointless. It actually makes the film less impressive due to how obviously fake it all is. The film would work much better if it just stated “based on real testimony’s” which it very clearly  is.
Beyond the found footage there is a paranoia inducing film about abduction, repressed memory, owls, 3.33am, god and whatever else you want to read into it/believe. It’s details are plenty and the Alaskan setting stunning.

I just don’t think there will ever be a film better than communion dealing with this subject.
Just doesn’t compare very well to that masterpiece.

I don’t have anything against the Spielberg inspired elements before the last 20 mins but at this point all the threat and mystery was lost. Overall it is a lot more focused and less annoying than US but doesn’t reach…

Solly has come firing out the gates with a first feature that’s confident and has its own voice.
It’s cultural and honest, reflecting upon tales he’s heard and scene. A lived in atmosphere.
It is extremely wordy with the hour long runtime mainly divided into different monologues. Solly seems to have a natural inclination towards the stage in this sense. However the Black and White cinematography lends a visual element to the film that couldn’t be replicated on a stage.…
