Perhaps the sweet nostalgia of being allowed to watch this as a child makes me slightly biased, however this film is simply a delight. Kathleen is such a lovely character with the most gorgeous hair, its unfathomable that she stayed single in New York for long; almost as unfathomable as her fairytale ending with the guy who single handedly shutdown her late mother's charming bookshop. But still, after loosing your business it would be pretty convenient for your anonymous chat room guy to be revealed as a multi-millionaire so fair enough.
I love when a film shocks you to your core and you feel weird for ages after. Okay 2007 cgi was shite but if you can forgive that and focus on the dialogue pace, the horribly tense atmosphere that slowly builds through the film... or you are a big Stephen King nerd, then this is excellent.
Apparently photojournalism is 100% about taking cool pictures and not at all about covering the story behind the picture... Would have been really interesting if the Press had some brief conversations with civilians or soldiers to reveal some of the politics behind the war. Without ANY political backstory, this film feels lacking despite the excellent cinematography, soundtrack and stand out performances, Kirstin Dunst in particular.
