Corpus Christi 2019
Loved this film. Everyone in town is a sinner (so no one is), and has secrets, shame, and guilt. There is no redemption as an individual being, everyone has to forgive to be forgiven. A new way of looking at the world (not to mention religion...) can set the inhabitants free. Building a new manner to coexist is possible. I found it hopeful in a realistic way, more honest than usual. The main character isn't the typical reformed (ex?)convict.
Bartosz Bielenia is a great actor, and his eyes are such an astonishing narrative element to the film.Translated from by -
Marriage Story 2019
So hard for me to be objective when I have a huge crush on Adam Driver, but the “Being Alive” scene is definitely my favourite of this film.
Also the scene where Charlie cries on the floor, grabbing Nicole’s legs, and she pats his back softly is so heartbreaking. Love can be so tough sometimes.
Nora's monologue about mothers and fathers is just stunning.
The last scene about Nicole’s letter completely broke my soul. The music was perfect. I think I couldn’t stop crying for maybe half an hour after I saw it.Translated from by
