  Blimey. Crikey.

  Absolutely outstanding. Practical filmmaking at it's complete and utter zenith .

  The film is often described with an air of 'before-The-Lord-of-the-Rings-Jackson-made-these-other-twee-films' about it, but nothing could be further from the truth. This film was by no means 'budget'- and it certainly wanted you to know that. With a cost of around $3 million, it unfortunately flopped…

  I always have a soft spot for portmanteu films.. but frankly speaking that may be due to a rather fried and highly impatient brain. Some of the stories in this I preferred vastly to others, particularly 'Poetic Justice' as I don't think I've seen Peter Cushing in a more heartbreaking role before (it's okay, though, he got his comeuppance in the end...wholeheartedly).   Regarded as an 'artistic failure' by the director himself. I'd have to disagree. This is what Science Fiction should be in cinema. Using the cosmos and bleepy-bloopy stuff for the sake of asking questions a normal setting couldn't. Not just being bleepy-bloopy for the sake of being bleepy-bloopy.,
