I know it isn't the main theme but along with police surveillance being inescapable the crawl of corporate brands becoming a part of our psyche with the instant recognizable nature of the places is an internal horror as well. You can run but you can't hide.

Mary Jane's Not a Virgin Anymore 1996
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Anytime something feels lo fi and DIY in the independent realm I am going to have some natural feelings of acceptance for it. This is definitely a case of an uncompromised vision of a hangout film that is firmly planted in being realistic and relatable. The death in the film woke me out of the hangout vibe as it is kind of a dramatic twist on a very un-narrative take on a coming of age film in the 90s. It does some interesting thing but its place in independent film history is probably the most important thing going on.
