About halfway through this movie, I asked myself, “Why does Tarzan have no facial hair or body hair?”
“Maybe he shaves,” you think. Which okay, sure. But why he would do that? He wants to feel more like an ape - he would have welcomed body hair!

Nothing else I’ve seen really hits the same tonal sweet spot as this movie, even Wes’s other masterpieces. On the one hand, this is obviously a comedy, maybe the funniest movie he’s made. But it’s also deeply, deeply sad and remorseful and angsty. Rad as hell! Simple and effective storytelling, gnarly and exciting combat, palace intrigue spoken by great British actors - very little not to like here, besides some annoyingly obvious fan service.
