A Confucian Confusion 1994
edward yang you son of a bitch. you master. you god. i am forever in your debt. bergman described film as a tool to reach deep into the twilight room of the soul, and nobody has done that more for me than edward yang. the way i feel after watching one of his movies is indescribable. this one’s quite a bit more fast paced, but how did he do all that with 129 minutes? it’s just unbelievable. lord the ending is up there with the best of them, and definitely among the hardest-hitting, but in a nice way. thank you edward yang.

fuck! completely gripping i mean once you’re in this YOU ARE IN, one of the best scripts ever written, end of discussion. it met my high expectations, if not exceeded them. there’s nothing wrong with this movie at all, so maybe i’ll give it 5 eventually. though it’s not a movie that i need to sit with, everything there is to unpack is unpacked in those 97 minutes

Blue Valentine 2010
there’s a scene in which cindy asks her grandmother what it felt like to fall in love, to which her grandma responds with “i don’t think i’ve found it”. this line impacted me greatly, down to the composition of my DNA. what a beautiful film, i am ruined, haven’t cried like this in a while
