To say Skinamarink is not an average horror film would be a massive understatement, as its 100-minute runtime is spent almost entirely on static (almost Tarkovsky-esque) shots of dark hallways, angular walls and toy-covered floors. However, those who choose to embrace its pacing and abstract themes are rewarded with a densely atmospheric nightmarescape rooted in the most primal of childhood fears: darkness, solitude and abandonment.
