It’s best when Pattinson is playing opposite himself.
Fun satire, feels like Bong Joon Ho cashed in a blank check with this one and tried critiquing a LOT at once. The first 20 minutes are a bit slow, but the rest of the movie is worth it.
Kitty! And kitty survives!
Love the instant you get from watching these critters, even when they can’t talk. I feel like some of the mystic bits later in the movie can take you out of it, but it works as a metaphor for how disasters force us to get together and bond.
Visuals felt a little too video game-y at times, but still a big achievement!

This would’ve been an enjoyable cult camp film if it weren’t up for SO MANY OSCARS!
I’d rewatch it. It’s a mess, but an interesting and pretty one.
It weirdly feels pro-Robert Moses at times though. (look him up)
